Film and capturing images in motion is a huge passion of mine. I love grabbing that pure moment in a still, but I equally love playing that image out over seconds and minutes. I love the layers that film gives you by mixing image, angle, movement, sound and tone. But with each of those layers it requires more time and more people that share the same passion to deliver the vision at 24 frames per second.

So on a camping trip (which due to weather turned into a hotel camping trip) with a few good friends the idea of starting a film production company was born. We wanted a company where equally talented people came together to deliver on a vision and produce work we are proud of. On that trip we shared our individual passions (mine being directing and filming), we talked about dream clients, we filed pages with concepts, we talked about the perfect team and by the end of the trip modest giant was born.

You can check out the site to dive deeper into what modest giant is all about, but I wanted to share my excitement and leave you with a few samples. Thanks for stopping in and look for great things from the modest giant crew!

Had a killer 12 day trip to California. Spent most of the trip filming with Modest Giant and PaddleFit. Here are a few images from the trip I took on the rare occasion I pulled out my still camera. As soon as some of the film work from the trip is edited I'll share it as well.

Had two shoots with JoFit this month. We did a studio shoot for their catalog and a lifestyle shoot in Cap May (for a new line). I love going to Philly. The food, people, architecture and the overall vibe is awesome. We always have fun on these shoots and doing them in an awesome city is a bonus we look forward to every time.

Where do I begin. The trip was amazing. We spent 15 days shooting, laughing, driving, packing and unpacking, walking, climbing, almost swimming (time to get a water housing) and hanging out with some of the coolest people and brands on the planet. We shot from Santa Cruz all the way down the PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) to Coronado. We shot brand images for PaddleFit and integrated their new board partners Infinity Surfboard Co. and Boardworks. I had a blast working with these guys and can't wait to get back to the left coast and do it again!

My trip to Philly was awesome. Me and the crew (Don and Arron) jumped in our rented SUV at 4am and made our way from Apex, NC to Philly. Yes it would have been faster and easier to fly, but there is still something cool about getting in the car with a group of friends and enjoying the ride. We had a packed shoot schedule that included a catalog studio shoot, golf and tennis lifestyle stills and three lifestyle videos. We ate great food, laughed so hard it made one of us spit beer all over Don (and it was not me), spent time with a killer client and crew and walk the amazing streets of Philly to see and experience as much as we could. Here are a few images from the trip. I will post some of the work as soon as it is ready for public consumption.

Let me start by saying I LOVE California! If I was held at gun point and had to choice what part of California I love the most I would have to pick Northern California, but I am growing very fond of the San Diego area. I love the weather, locations (pure magic), the light, food and overall vibe of the area. I was in town to shoot some film pieces for PaddleFit and spend some quality time with some good friends. The trip was a blast and I am already planning my next trip back. I will forever love California!

One of my favorite things to do is camping. It is something I don't do as much since I left Northern California, but it is something I dream about everyday. There is something about being in the great outdoors that is good for my soul. My good friends Don and Arron and I decided it was time to stop talking and start doing, so we hopped in the car and headed to the mountains of NC. We ate S'mores, climbed around Grand Father Mountain, drove on the Blue Ridge Parkway, we visited small towns, told stories at the campfire and under the stars and we saw a lot of things and places that inspired us. We had a ton of fun and all we could talk about on the way home was how we can't wait to get back, and for me, it can't be soon enough.

Had a really fun trip to Myrtle Beach, SC this weekend. My Grandparents were visiting my aunt and uncle in SC and we decided to hitch a ride with my parents and head down. My Dad loves taking the backroads over the super highways and that adds a lot of charm and character to the trip. We saw some cool towns, interesting people and some beautiful landscape. I am inspired to take a turn here and there to see the less explored parts of my world. Here are a few images from the trip, but if you want to see the full set head over to https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.304356939651614.76911.271318822955426&type=1

The second in a series of videos called "Inspired By". In this series we will take a brand and with the help of friends and like minded people create work with little to no budget. It is an exercise of having fun and making work. First up is a quick hitting fitness spot with a run time of 30 seconds. We had crazy weather, a bunch of curious on lookers to contented with and a bad cut to one of the models big toe (ouch), but all in all we had a fun time shooting and learning.

Had a killer time in Wrightsville Beach NC for the 2012 Carolina Cup. Brody of Stand Up Fitness/PaddleFit flew into Raleigh and stayed with me for a few day before heading over to the race. We had a fun little road trip over to Wrightsville before stopping into the locals favorite breakfast/lunch spot called Epic Food (so good). Stayed in an amazing house with the YOLO crew and enjoyed a long weekend of SUP events and races. We were able to sneak in a few shoots and grab a handful on images that we need for the brand. All in all it was a really good time with some of the coolest people you will ever meet!

Did a shoot for YOLO Board last year at the Battle of the Paddle in California and a few of the image were used in a story for VIE. Good times! http://viezine.com/magazine/issue/2012_may.php

I had such a killer time in California. Met up with my client and good friend Brody Welte of Paddle Fit for 10 glorious days of scouting and shooting in Cali. We spent half the trip shooting in and around San Diego and the rest traveling up and down the Pacific Coast Highway. We went as far north as Santa Cruz and took our time cruising back to SD. We found a ton of killer locations (some we saved for a shoot this summer), ate some awesome food, laughed until it hurt and shot a ton of images along the way. Here are some trip pictures from our journey and I will have images from the shoot to share soon.

I am super excited to finally share my new site and brand. The guys at Encounter Creative (Arron is a rock star) did a killer job building the site and putting up with me. I will be back filling the blog with some recent behind the scenes stuff, past projects and will share all of my travels and shoots here first. I really appreciate all of the love and support that my family, friends and clients have all given me over the years and I am so looking forward to the path ahead. Enjoy the site, leave comments, share it with your friends (especially if they are Art Directors or Brand Managers) and check back often. It's going to be a wild ride and I plan to share every minute of it (well at least most of it)!

Well shoot camp was a week I won't soon forget. It was filled with challenges, laughter, long nights and early mornings. We ate more donuts and tacos than any of us would like to admit, but along the way we created some work that we are very proud of. Shoot Camps are all about bringing creatives together to make stuff, learn stuff and have a great time doing it. Im looking forward to doing more of these, so if you are interested in joining a camp hit me up!

Had an awesome time at the 2011 Battle of the Paddle. It is by far the largest Stand Up Paddle (SUP) race of the year and it was so much fun to experience it for the first time with an awesome group of people. I tagged along with Brody Welte of Stand Up Fitness and Jeff and his crew from YOLO Boards. Some of the highlights of the trip were the amazing cookies at the hotel, the southern California vibe, Brody making a helmet out of a watermelon, enjoying the tastiest blueberry pancakes I have ever had with two amazing people (April and Kevin "The Golden Boy" Cook), Jeff's magical desalted nuts (a story for another day), Pizza Port with YOLO and the Trout family, talking zombie strategy with Tanner (we have a solid plan), John and Ali Denney and all of the fun that comes with hanging out with them, talking creative what ifs with Jake, watching Madra watching her iPhone battery slowly die at the race, Bo Bridges crazy helicopter camera rig (I need one of those), the race experience in general was crazy and inspiring, seeing $100K+ cars being sold in a gas station parking lot, the dinners, the drives, the people and so much more. It was awesome and we can't wait for next year!

Here is the finished piece.

Had an awesome shoot last week for Backe Marketing and their client Peirce College. Big thanks to Christina and Lisa for entrusting us with capturing the brand vision through film and photography. Here are a few behind the scenes images taken on our down time in and around our urban adventure loft (side note- If you are looking for a cool place to stay in the city of your choice check out airbnb.com). I love Philly!
